We are offering up for sale on behalf of our client this very rare example of a right hand drive Flavia Vignale. We had the privilege of carrying out the bodywork on this vehicle three years ago and it has been finished to a very high standard.
The Flavia Vignale was designed by Michelotti and built by Italian carrozzeria Vignale on Lancia mechanicals. 1600 copies of this design were produced between 1963 and 1967, mostly in LHD. Two engine sizes were offered – 1500 and 1800, both with flat four configuration driving the front wheels.
This model is the rarest version of Flavia convertible having the powerful 1800cc with Kuglefisher mechanical fuel injection. Only 43 examples were produced, and only around 5 were made in RHD.
This RHD UK supplied car is the only known example that is on the road. The car because of its age (first registered in 1967) is classed as historic so no road tax is payable and it is also excused an annual MOT (although this car has a current MOT to give confidence to its condition).
This lovely example was restored 3 years ago after being in dry storage for many years with minor repairs to the metalwork, and benefits from a professional bare metal re-spray in correct Grigio Newmarket metallic paint. The interior was re trimmed in the right burgundy finish, but the original rubber mats (it is a convertible) are retained, giving the car the authentic look. It has a new hood in double duck, with zip out rear screen, and the car is fitted with inertia seat belts to the front. Mechanically re-commissioned and overhauled at the same time as the body restoration, it is now used regularly, and with the fuel injection is a pleasure to drive, able to keep up with modern traffic with much more performance and economy compared to the carburettor model Flavia convertibles. The 4 speed gearbox (with synchromesh on all 4 gears) is smooth to use and the clutch is judder free. With disk brakes all round, stops as required with renovated callipers and remote brake servo. The wheels have been re-painted in correct antique ivory and shod with Michelin X tyres. The stainless steel exhaust has a refined distinctive Italian rasp. It starts on the button, and everything works as it should.
A low mileage survivor of only 4 previous owners. This is the last Lancia soft top and with values of Aurelia B24’s hitting $1m and Flaminias exceeding £150k we think this is surely excellent value to get into Lancia convertible.
